Cortlain & Courtney: Engaged

Engaged. Well, sort of. These two have already tied the knot but they’re getting ready to have a ceremony and celebration with family and friends! Cortlain is a military man and Courtney is right by his side through it all. I can’t wait to help them on their special day.

How did you meet your fiancé?

We met on a cruise. He was with his parents and I went with neighbors. We met on the first full day of sailing and he stuck around. He was with us every single day after that initial meeting! We’ve been together for 3 years now.

When did you know they were the one for you?

We were out to eat, getting something small before heading to the movies. I was sitting across from him reading the menu when all of the sudden he asked me if I would have a baby with him. He took me by complete surprise. I already knew I loved him, but it was in that moment, knowing he saw us having children together, made me know he was the one.

What is one of your favorite dates you have been on?

We were in Boston visiting his family and we spent the whole afternoon together, just the two of us. We went to have some wine at one of his favorite places and then went mini golfing after (I won). We celebrated my win with ice-cream.

How did he propose? Was it a surprise?

It was New Year’s Eve at the Houston, Texas 200 and we were there to see all the Christmas lights. When we started walking through the tunnel of lights, he got down on one knee and asked me. It was a complete surprise! I didn’t even know we were going to see the lights that night. He planned the whole thing secretly and pulled it off!

What is your favorite thing about your fiancé?

It’s hard to pick just one. But I guess it would be how he always surprises me. Whether it’s showing up in St. Louis after deployment or with flowers and chocolates if I’ve had a bad week. He always manages to make me extremely happy in an instant!

How do you envision your wedding day?

Full of happiness and fun. Both our families are up-beat and fun to be around, which will make the night even more enjoyable.

How did you decide on your venue?

Neo on Locust was actually the first place we went to look at. I loved how open the upstairs was and the windows give a great view of downtown. It was perfect!

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding day?

I’m ready to have everyone together and for our families finally meeting face-to-face. I’m just looking forward to spending the evening with the man I love with all my heart.
