Whimsical Fall Styled Shoot

I have not been able to stop looking at the stunning images that came from our styled shoot on September 15th! The photos that were captured perfectly encompass everyone’s favorite things about the fall season. With so many talented vendors coming together, it was bound to be a fantastic collaboration. But the details that we each brought to the table (literally) complemented each other so perfectly without planning. Yes, there are times that planning doesn’t make all of the details fall into place….sometimes it’s just more natural.

Veronica Young reached out to me after our Summer Styled Shoot to collaborate with her and I’m so very glad she did. What was created on that warm night in Faust Park was something from a dream. It was an ethereal kind of beauty that I hope you all enjoy as much as I have. All pictures are credit to Veronica Young Photography. All other collaborators and special vendors are below!

(Also, special shoutout to our models who were amazing sports, so contagiously positive, and absolutely adorable.)

Timothy & Laura: Engaged

I fell in love with this couple the moment I met them at a Starbucks last October! Their wedding day has been a long time coming and I can’t wait to share in this experience with Laura & Tim. They have been together almost 8 years and I they are ready to make things official next month!

LauraTim-56.jpg

How did you meet?

It all started in the fall semester of 2008 when the two of us were taking an evening statistics class at SIUE. We really just started talking because I had a Biology question and he was the only one in the hallway before class began, so I kind of forced him to talk to me… Then slowly we started talking more and more about ourselves and what we like to do and ended up becoming really good friends and workout partners! Although we didn’t know it at the time, it was the perfect start to a perfect relationship!

LauraTim-3.jpg

Share one of your favorite dates.

Our favorite date was when we went to Chicago for a Cubs game (it was my first time ever at Wrigley Field). Even though the Cubs lost that game, it was a day and experience we will never forget!

LauraTim-13.jpg

When did you know your fiancé was the one?

Tim: I knew Laura was the one for me on our first Thanksgiving together – it was the day  I introduced her to my “college family.”

Laura: I knew he was the one the first time I was sick…..when I looked my worst, felt my worst, and all around was just the worst form of me….he didn’t care, all he wanted to do was make me feel better. It showed me that he loved me for me and that he was there for better or for worse.

LauraTim-6.jpg

How did he pop the question?

I (Laura) was at work on a Friday at Foley Dental Group and my friend, Jennifer, plotted the day right off the bat. Jennifer was about 5 months pregnant at the time and earlier in the day she told me she really wasn’t feeling good and something wasn’t right…When the day was coming to an end and we were finishing up with patients, Jennifer’s husband (Daniel) came to our work to drop off tea for her (which he always did, so I didn’t think anything of it). Shortly after arriving, Daniel came to the operatory I was in and said I needed to come to the back room right away. So I excused myself from the patient and went to the back and there was Jennifer saying she didn’t know what was wrong and she thought she was having contractions. So of course, I freaked out and told her that we needed to go to the ER and she kept saying she was fine and needed to finish her last patient. I tried, unsuccessfully, to convince her to go to the ER while Briana (one of our front desk ladies) came back and told me I had a visitor….at that time Jennifer popped up and said she was going to finish her patient and I went to the front to see who was there. When I got to the waiting room, I didn’t recognize anyone so I headed back to the patient operatories to check on Jennifer and she and Daniel were standing in an empty operatory smiling and laughing. I walked into the room, and to my surprise, Tim was sitting in the patient chair. When he realized I’d walked in, he jumped out of the chair and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was a complete surprise!!

(And since Daniel was there, he got it all on video!!)

LauraTim-15.jpg

What is your favorite thing about your fiancé?

Tim: I love Laura’s love of animals!

Laura: My favorite thing is how down to earth Tim is, but yet is still the most charismatic person I know.

LauraTim-45.jpg

How do you envision your wedding day?

Lots of love, laughter, and tears. A day that we will cherish forever and always be grateful that all of our family and friends were there to celebrate with us.

How did you decide on your venue?

We decided early on that we did not want a traditional wedding. We wanted something new where we could make it our own vision. Thankfully, a family friend offered for us to use his private family property. We can do what we wish with the space and have the opportunity to make our dreams come true!

LauraTim-18.jpg

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding day?

He is looking forward to seeing me for the first time! (Just because I have talked it up for 6 months now…..)

I am most looking forward to Tim’s face when he sees me for the first time walking down the aisle!

Of course, we are both looking forward to saying our I do’s and starting our new life together as husband and wife!!

Stay tuned for pictures and updates from their wedding on October 7th!

Gifts for the Guys

Today we’re going to answer the question, “What gift do I give my groomsmen?” To all you future grooms out there, we do not think you’re incapable of knowing what to get…but we’re going to help you out a bit! You’ve got enough on your plate with cake tastings, tux fittings, and centerpiece planning that we want to relieve you of one more task.

Groomsmen Socks

Tip #1: Always personalize it! It shows you put a little extra time and effort in (and it means they won’t re-gift it to you on their wedding day!).

Tip #2: Help a brother out! If your roommate from college that you have-to-have beside you on your big day can’t really afford a plane ticket, hotel room, plus a tux for the occasion…offer to help cover some costs. It’s not as tangible, but memories he’ll make on your wedding day are worth a lot more!

Groosmen

Tip #3: Have the gift reflect who they are or your friendship. Remember that time you went golfing together? Give him a set of golf balls with his initials. Or the time you partied hard in college? Give him a personalized shot glass, decanter, or bottle of whiskey.

Trouble finding the perfect gift? No worries…

We are also here to tell you about Groovy Groomsmen Gift’s! Tom Ryan reached out to us a few months back to review their products and feature them here on our blog!

Tom was great enough to customize and send us a To the 9’s Tri-Pack and it would be a perfect gift for any of your groomsmen (or ladies, your groom)! This particular gift includes a carved wooden box, a tie pin, cuff links, and a money clip. You can personalize the items however you wish and they are top quality. I was so impressed with the customer service, how quickly it was shipped, and the genuine products I received. They have a range of ideas and gifts for any occasion and any friend…whether they’re the flannel-wearing-out-doorsy type or work in a bustling high-rise on Wall Street. Check out a few pictures below:

Regardless of the gift you choose, make sure to surround yourself with your best buddies on your big day. They might hassle you, beat you up once or twice, and get you in trouble with your new bride during their toasts…but they’ve been there for you through thick and thin. Show them how much you appreciate their friendship and support on your wedding day! Have fun, take pictures, and make a lot of new memories (just not with that hatchet..)!
